KRS Celebrates the Holiday Season

Kids Reading to Succeed celebrated the 2010 Holiday Season with a festive reading program and fundraiser.

On December 4, 2010, KRS gathered for the December Reading Program. After the students’ regular reading hour, opera singer Marco Lozano explained how important reading is to his craft, which includes reading and speaking seven languages. The students then read the lyrics to songs Marco was scheduled to sing, which included the holiday favorites “O Holy Night” and “I Want a Hippopotamus for Christmas” as well as a song from the opera “Rigoletto”. Jessica Goodman, college student and roving reporter for a local television station, interviewed Marco for Good Day Pasadena. Everyone enjoyed hearing Marco’s beautiful voice, singing seasonal songs and learning new ones!

On December 9, 2010, teuscher Beverly Hills hosted a Wine and Chocolate party with a portion of the proceeds benefiting KRS. Jacqueline Nicole Goodman, Director of Events, Social Media and Marketing at teuscher Beverly Hills, explained that teuscher's award winning confections are all handmade from original family recipes and flown in weekly from their kitchens in Zurich, Switzerland. At the party Jacqueline Nicole also provided insightful information about the delicious hot chocolate, coffee and, of course, chocolates (including the best wine pairings). Many thanks to teuscher Beverly Hills for hosting the event and their donation to KRS.

KRS also wishes to send a special thank you to KRS Program Development Chair Jacqueline Goodman for organizing the December Reading Program and hosting the teuscher fundraiser at her beautiful home.
