Spring 2010 Updates

We've had a very busy two months here at KRS! The kids are steadily improving their reading skills and have impressed us with their creativity in working on our monthly art projects. For our April session, the kids made some adorable bunny frames celebrating Easter (thanks to our volunteer Jennifer C. for donating art supplies and wonderful Easter baskets for the kids!), and in May, high school students from the Interact Club at Blair IB Magnet School (in conjunction with the Rotary Club of Pasadena Sunrise) joined us as volunteers and taught the kids how to make a Mother's Day bouquet of handmade roses. Thank you to Blair Principal Rich Boccia and the Interact and Rotary Club volunteers for coming out and supporting KRS!

Before we go on our summer break (we resume on Sept. 11th!), we have an exciting June reading program planned! The law firm of Allen Matkins in Los Angeles will be joining us and sponsoring the June program, donating food and art supplies. In addition, Pasadena Mayor Bill Bogaard will be reading a book to the kids. Please join us if you can and tune in for photos to come!

In the meantime, happy reading, and have a wonderful summer!

Sincerely,
Deborah & Susie
