In
June we welcomed Disney back to KRS for another great program that gave
students a behind the scenes look at the world of animation. From 9 to 10 am,
students at Villa Parke worked one-on-one with our great volunteers to improve
their reading skills and hopefully get a head start when school begins in the
fall.
A Disney cartoon in the making
During the second half of the program, our speaker from Disney demonstrated how a cartoon is made, from the animatic to final animation. The student learned how animators create a storyboard and an outline for a television episode before casting voiceover actors. Volunteers then read a script for a Mickey Mouse episode and acted it out for the students, who later got to create their own storyboards and present them to the group.
Special thanks to our volunteers and speakers!
Our Jackson Elementary location
is closed for the summer but we can always use volunteers at the Villa Parke site! Click on the “Get Involved” tab to sign up for our program in July.
